GardenGirl is delighted to be supporting the national gardening therapy charity Thrive.

If you haven’t heard of Thrive it’s a wonderful place where horticultural therapists use the garden to help people who may have a disability or mental ill health, or those who are feeling isolated, vulnerable or are disadvantaged. The charity helps a wide range of people, from teenagers with a learning difficulty through to people in their 90s who may be living with dementia.
Gardening in this way, with a trained horticultural therapist, can have a profound effect on peoples’ lives.
As well as the outdoors and exercise being good for mental and physical health as you strengthen muscle and gain a sense of purpose and achievement, gardening can teach a variety of skills, which in turn boosts confidence and self-esteem.
The social side of gardening can lead to new friendships and shared interests and has been shown to reduce feelings of isolation or exclusion. Learning about gardening, what to plant and where, what’s good to eat and grow and how to look after plants are wonderful skills to have that could lead to a qualification which Thrive can arrange as a City and Guilds approved centre.
Every time you buy something from GardenGirl and use the voucher code at checkout THRIVESUPPORT you will receive a 10% discount on all products and GardenGirl will also make a donation equivalent to 10% of your order to Thrive.
We’re proud to support this great charity and hope you will be too.
